Taiwanese-Thai Cross-Cultural Design Exhibition Showcases Amazing Inspiration for Collaboration
In a move to facilitate meaningful exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand in the domains of art and design, the Culture Division at the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Thailand, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, invited curator YuPei Kuo and Taiwan Creator Around, a group of Taiwanese creators based in Thailand, to curate a Taiwanese-Thai design exhibition at Bangkok Design Week 2023. The exhibition brings together Taiwanese creators who have long been interested in Thai culture and art, and Thai creators who have a connection with Taiwan, to present seven artworks in a collection entitled "Bangkok Gaze: Taiwanese-Thai Creative Design Exhibition". The exhibition will be on display at Charoen 43 Art & Eatery from now until February 12, and will feature lectures focusing on the exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand.
On February 3, the opening day of the exhibition, Dr. Chuang Suo-hang, Representative of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Thailand, Prof. Eakachart Joneurairatana, Chairman of Thailand's major design award "Designer of the Year", and Veerawat Sirivesman, Vice Dean of the School of Decorative Arts of Silpakorn University, were among the event's distinguished guests.
The artworks on display span a wide range of styles and topics, including architecture, visuals, sculptures, textiles, and installation art. From a cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary perspective, the exhibition illustrates the cross-cultural and living experiences in both Taiwan and Thailand through design and art, highlighting to attendees of Bangkok Design Week 2023 the impressions that Taiwanese designers have of Thai culture and life during their stay in the country and of the importance of the cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand in art and design. Taiwan and Thailand expect to develop even closer ties in the realms of art and culture.
