UL Advances Ability for Electronic Product and Equipment Manufacturers to Quickly Enter Mexico Market
Mexico Ministry of Economy grants UL first mutual recognition agreement to allow electronics product testing outside of Mexico
NORTHBROOK, Illinois, Aug. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- UL, a leading global safety science company, today announced that Mexico's Ministry of Economy, General Directorate of Standards (DGN), has granted UL the right to conduct safety and energy efficiency testing globally for electronic products and equipment imported into that country. These include safety tests for audio, video and information technology products and equipment and uninterruptible power systems (UPS) as well as energy efficiency tests for washing machines, household and commercial refrigerators and freezers, motors, lighting, external power supplies and products and equipment requiring stand-by power.
With the ability now to perform safety and energy efficiency tests at UL or UL-approved laboratories outside of Mexico, according to official Mexico standards, Norma Oficial Mexicana and Oficial Mexico Standard (NOM) and Mexican Standard (NMX), UL can help reduce time and cost to market for product access to the Mexican marketplace.
The safety test designation, a first for any international testing, inspection and certification company, applies to specific products and equipment as identified by the NOM and NMX categories. Product and equipment groups include:
- NOM-001-SCFI-2018 - Electronic appliances
- NMX-I-163-NYCE-2016 - Electronic equipment - uninterruptible power systems (UPS).
- NMX-I-60065-NYCE-2015 - Electronic equipment - audio, video and similar electronic apparatus

แพทย์จาก Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute (TCAI) at St. David's Medical Center กำลังทำการทดสอบโปรแกรมปรับเปลี่ยนรูปแบบการใช้ชีวิตและแพลตฟอร์มสุขภาพดิจิทัลสำหรับผู้ป่วยที่มีภาวะหัวใจห้องบนสั่นพลิ้ว (A Fib) ซึ่งเป็นภาวะหัวใจเต้นผิดจังหวะที่พบบ่อยที่สุด โดยมีการใช้แอปที่เชื่อมกับอุปกรณ์สวมใส่อัจฉริยะ (wearable device) ซึ่งจะช่วยให้ตรวจพบอาการหัวใจห้องบนสั่นพลิ้วได้ตั้งแต่เนิ่น ๆ รวมถึงช่วยยกระดับการจัดการโรคและผลลัพธ์ในการรักษาผู้ป่วย

ผลการศึกษาเมื่อไม่นานมานี้บ่งชี้ว่า การช่วยเหลือผู้ป่วยตั้งแต่เนิ่น ๆ เพื่อให้มีอัตราการเต้นของหัวใจเป็นปกติ สามารถลดภาวะแทรกซ้อนจากโรคหัวใจและหลอดเลือด และลดอัตราการเสียชีวิตในผู้ป่วยที่มีภาวะหัวใจห้องบนสั่นพลิ้ว โดยผลลัพธ์จากการศึกษา Early Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation for Stroke Prevention Trial (EAST) ได้รับการนำเสนอในการประชุม European Heart Meeting และเผยแพร่ผ่านวารสาร New England Journal of Medicine เมื่อวันที่ 29 สิงหาคม

Physicians with the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute (TCAI) at St. David's Medical Center are testing a new lifestyle intervention program and digital health platform for patients with atrial fibrillation (A Fib), the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia. The program, which features an app that is linked to wearable devices, is designed to enable early detection of A Fib, as well as improve management and clinical outcomes for patients with A Fib.
"Digital monitoring allows us to better serve our patients by helping them follow prescribed plans, such as diet and exercise, to improve quality of life," Andrea Natale, M.D., F.H.R.S., F.A.C.C., F.E.S.C., cardiac electrophysiologist and executive medical director of TCAI, said. "Physicians can also receive alerts if patients experience abnormal heart rhythms, such as A Fib."
The digital monitoring program being studied allows physicians to identify patients who are at risk of A Fib and develop intervention plans, including recommended lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of recurrence, before and after a cardiac ablation procedure. Cardiac ablation is used to destroy small areas of heart tissue that are causing abnormal heart rhythms.
The RFMx digital monitoring platform being used in this study includes wearable devices to continuously track health data from willing patients. The platform integrates the data to create a Health Scorecard based on information obtained from the wearable devices that is transmitted monthly via remote monitoring. It is designed to educate and support patients in a variety of areas, including diet, exercise, stress reduction, sleep, smoking cessation and alcohol reduction.
"Every participant is different, and the challenges they face are unique," Dr. Natale said. "For example, patients who are overweight are placed in nutrition and exercise programs, and their goal is to achieve at least a 10% decrease in body mass index. Digital health platforms can measure these changes."
Doctors use telemedicine, web-based analysis, email, mobile phones, apps, text messages, wearable devices, and clinic or remote monitoring sensors (weight scales, blood pressure cuffs, etc.) to track patients' progress. Medical experts can intervene with health coaching for high-risk patients, if needed. The program also provides patients with community support for encouragement and accountability.
TCAI is currently testing the digital monitoring program on approximately 40 patients.

Sunway Hotels & Resorts signs 3-year agreement with Amadeus to boost efficiency and customer loyalty
Leading Asian hotel group will use Amadeus' flexible, affordable solutions to deliver a personalized guest experience.
Amadeus, an industry-leading provider of hospitality technology solutions, has announced a new agreement with Sunway Hotels & Resorts, one of Asia's most prominent international hotel groups, to deliver a comprehensive technology solution enabling them to streamline reservations and loyalty programs across Sunway's 11 independent properties in Malaysia, Cambodia, and Vietnam, as well as future developments which include a new hotel in Malaysia's southern state of Johor, scheduled to launch in 2021.
As part of the 3-year agreement, the hotel group will implement Amadeus' iHotelier(R) Central Reservation System, Guest Management Solutions, and website management solutions in various phases. Collectively these products will consolidate and organise important guest and operational data as well as provide actionable insights. This is a timely move, as data-driven approaches to guest acquisition and retention are more crucial than ever – according to recent Amadeus research. 76% of senior hospitality industry leaders globally are planning to target new audiences to make up for impacted revenue from their usual business mix, with 75% sharing that forward-looking data will be critical to executing their recovery plan in a COVID-19 context.

XCMG Contributes Excavators to Flood Relief Initiatives across China
The flood season this summer wreaked havoc across China especially in the provinces of Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu and Hubei. In response, leading construction machinery manufacturer XCMG (SZ:000425) has been actively providing timely assistance in disaster areas to emergency rescue operations.
On July 8, XCMG dispatched two XE200DA excavators urgently to the Yuanshan Village of Dahe Town, Huangmei County, Huanggang City of Hubei Province as an emergency response to the landslide rescue. Due to a great quantity of debris on site, smaller excavators were unable to cope. XCMG assembled an on-site service team, and all nine people who lost contact during the landslide have been rescued and more than 40 villagers were moved to a safe place.
Days of heavy rain in Hukou County of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province raised the water levels of Poyang Lake and Yangtze River that resulted in embankment seepage. On July 12, XCMG sent six excavators that worked round-the-clock to complete a 1-meter-tall and 13,527-meter-long levee. As a result, the industrial park affected by the flood resumed production and operation.
During the 2020 flood season, XCMG participated in multiple disaster relief and rescue operations across China, including but not limited to:
- Sending 20 excavators to carry out urgent road repair in Longnan City of Gansu Province since August 22;
- Dispatching excavators to Pengze County of Jiangxi Province, one of most hardest-hit areas, to reinforce and raise the levee of Fang Lake by 60 centimeters to effectively manage a dangerous situation;
- In Yangtan Town of Guangde City, Anhui Province, a customer Mr. Wang drove a XE200DA excavator to clear the dredge riverway and roads to ensure follow-up rescue operations.
XCMG enacted its earthquake and disaster relief protocol in 2017, following the principles of unified leadership, local management, fast response, and coordinated assembly and action. The protocol detailed emergency response procedures, personnel assignment, equipment, and resource allocation, as well as close partnership with local dealers and customers who can provide immediate equipment rental and support as a backup resource.
As of August 22, more than 20 customers of XCMG have deployed excavators to contribute to the rescue and relief of affected regions, carrying out tasks including river dredging, village road construction, demolishing dilapidated buildings and garbage cleanup.
"XCMG is concerned and aware of our responsibilities when the country is in a difficult situation and the people's lives and property are are endangered. We are committed to supporting those in the disaster area with practical actions," said Wang Min, chairman of XCMG.

West China's lake city Wanzhou awaits tourists with much to offer
Wanzhou District of west China's Chongqing Municipality is a lake city, and it made a splash in the evening of Aug. 27 with a livestreaming show put on to promote its tourism and culture products. Livestreamed in 12 online platforms, the show gained 35.42 million views and 11.27 million likes with Wanzhou's beautiful landscape and rich resources, according to the Publicity Department of Wanzhou District.
Located in the heart of the Three Gorges reservoir area, Wanzhou boasts a long history and profound culture, and has been the place attracting scholars to stop by for appreciation since ancient times. In the past 1800 years, the Chongqing culture, the Three Gorges culture, the immigrant culture, the Anti-Japanese War culture and the revolution culture have met and merged in Wanzhou, creating a unique local culture.
In 2006, the grand Three Gorges Dam was completed. After impoundment, Wanzhou witnessed the emergence of a string of lakes. Later 29 city parks and 26 city squares were built in Wanzhou, forming an interconnected waterfront space. A new city with lakes, mountains and tall buildings accompanying each other came into being. In 2016, Wanzhou's lake landscape was rated as one of the top ten new tourist attractions of the new Three Gorges.
When people come to Wanzhou, they must visit the three important landmarks. The Western Hills bell tower, which has been standing on the banks of the Yangtze River for nearly a century, is an impressive combination of Chinese and Western styles. It still rings on time. The Ba Du power plant was built and then provided power support to the industrial and mining enterprises that moved in 80 years ago. The plant's old units are still generating electricity. The ruins of Tiansheng Ancient City, which survived the Anti-Yuan War in the late Southern Song Dynasty, occupied an important position in Sichuan's city defense system and the history of the Song and Yuan wars.
The Chongqing Three Gorges Immigrant Memorial Hall is another must-go place in Wanzhou. It keeps a complete record of the history of Three Gorges immigrants and the construction of the reservoir area. A few days ago, the museum, together with Fujian Gutian Conference Memorial Hall and Hebei Xibaipo Memorial Hall, was selected as the first batch of pilot units on revolution culture as part of a national project to preserve and promote Chinese national culture.
The Wanzhou Waterfall is also worth visiting. It is called the first waterfall in Asia. The waterfall is 151 meters wide, 64.5 meters high and covers an area of 9739.5 square meters. It is one of the few waterfalls that can be viewed from all angles.
There are three popular local food: Wanzhou noodles, steamed food and roasted fish. In 2018, Wanzhou was officially recognized as the hometown of grilled fish in China.
Besides, Wanzhou is a good place to buy gifts related with the Three Gorges. The unique climate of the lakes in the Three Gorges nourishes rich Wanzhou produce, such as the local citrus, plums and tangerines sent to the space for breeding. The wooden comb brand Carpenter Tan is well known, so are the crisp and refreshing pickled mustard tuber in Yuquan and the spicy beef jerky. The Three Gorges embroidery and stones are quite distinctive while local Tiancong tea and Shixiantai liquor boast a lingering aftertaste.
The water town has witnessed longstanding peace and prosperity, echoed by the loud and exciting working songs in the old days and now by arias of slow life. In Wanzhou, one can walk in the streets for a taste of the thousand-year elegance of the Xishan Monument and the Tiansheng Ancient City. Venture Global LNG Reports Minimal Impacts of Hurricane Laura on Calcasieu Pass LNG
Venture Global LNG, Inc. is pleased to report that its Calcasieu Pass LNG facility under construction in Cameron, LA has sustained minimal impacts from Hurricane Laura, which made landfall in Louisiana early this morning and passed directly over the project site. A walk-through inspection of most areas of the site following the storm confirmed that the project site's robust storm protection system, including a perimeter wall and storm water pumping system, performed as designed. Most importantly, all employees and contractor personnel are safe and accounted for.
Venture Global is working with its EPC contractor, Kiewit Louisiana Co., to promptly and safely regain access to the project site and supporting facilities, restore utilities to Cameron and the project site, and incrementally support the return to work of craft and Venture Global personnel.

Enrolment initiated in World's First RCT with Sirolimus Coated Balloon for the treatment of Below-the-Knee (BTK) Peripheral Artery Disease
Concept Medical Inc., focused on vascular intervention drug delivery devices, has announced the enrolment of the first patient in the FUTURE BTK trial (Randomized Controlled Trial of First SirolimUs CoaTed Balloon VersUs StandaRd Balloon Angioplasty in The TrEatment of Below The Knee Artery Disease).
The index patient was successfully enrolled on 26th August 2020 in Singapore.
FUTURE BTK is a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center trial. It is aimed at determining the effectiveness of MagicTouch PTA sirolimus coated balloon versus standard balloon angioplasty for the treatment of below the knee arterial disease in critical limb ischemia (CLI) patients.
Treatment of CLI primarily involves revascularization of below the knee arteries using angioplasty. Local drug delivery using drug coated balloons (DCBs) during angioplasty can successfully deliver anti-proliferative drugs to the lesions in the artery, and prevent restenosis. Sirolimus coated balloons are considered to be the next new generation of DCBs, and MagicTouch PTA sirolimus coated balloon offers a solution which optimizes both the deliverability and the absorption of sirolimus into the vessel wall.
The principal investigator of FUTURE-BTK is Associate Professor Edward Choke from the Department of General Surgery (Vascular Surgery) at the Sengkang General Hospital, Singapore.
Associate Professor Edward Choke said, "Critical limb ischemia is a condition which puts patients at an increased risk of limb amputation and death. Its burden is likely to grow in the coming years given the rising trends in key risk factors such as age and diabetes. Effective revascularization is the cornerstone of treatment, but this is often hampered by high rates of restenosis and reintervention after conventional balloon angioplasty."
He added, "The novel MagicTouch PTA sirolimus coated balloon has emerged as one of the most promising transcatheter technologies in preventing restenosis for below-the-knee lesions. The earlier data on the efficacy of MagicTouch PTA from small studies are encouraging but these need to be confirmed or refuted. I look forward to the FUTURE BTK randomized controlled trial, which will test whether the MagicTouch PTA sirolimus coated balloon can improve the patency of below the knee arteries in CLI patients, and this will hopefully bring us closer to our goal of reducing leg amputations."

Primary outcome will be primary patency at 6 months, defined as duplex peak systolic velocity ratio (PSVR) of 2.4 or less.
The trial is designed to follow a rigorous blinding protocol in order to minimize bias. Patients, care providers, investigators and outcome assessors, including vascular technologists performing the duplex ultrasound, will be blinded to the treatment allocations. The patients will be followed up for two years.

Xinhua Silk Road: China's Quanzhou rolls out multiple measures to optimize business environment
Quanzhou City, located in southeast China's Fujian Province, has rolled out a series of measures to optimize business environment.
Quanzhou has been committed to attracting investments. It strives to realize a great breakthrough in industrial investment attraction, with the expected investment amount on newly signed industrial chain projects exceeding 55 billion yuan.
Since the beginning of this year, Quanzhou has made all-out efforts to help enterprises relieve difficulties. The city has tried to improve the mechanism to find out enterprises' needs, established a group of foreign-related lawyers to provide services for enterprises, helped them coordinate the difficulties in employment, meals, materials, financing, sales, tax and fee handling, and issued risk warnings. Airbus has been selected by Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), the UAE’s leading global satellite operator, to build Thuraya 4-NGS, the next generation mobile telecommunications system that will drive the continued advancement of Thuraya’s L-band business. Thuraya 4-NGS will deliver higher capabilities and flexibility while increasing capacity and coverage across Europe, Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East, enabling next generation mobility solutions for all customer segments, including defense, government and enterprise.

Thuraya’s next generation system will provide a world of opportunities to customers, service partners, hardware manufacturers and integrators, enhancing user experience across land, sea and air to support multiple customer segments, including government, consumer and enterprise.
Furthermore, an advanced portfolio of solutions to support government and defense users will accelerate Thuraya’s leadership in this market, both within the UAE, regionally and globally. Meanwhile, all existing products and services will continue to be supported by Thuraya’s space and ground segments, enabling service continuity during and after the transformation programme.
This latest commitment from Yahsat takes its total committed investment to date to well over US$500 million, and more is anticipated in the coming years, including an option with Airbus to build Thuraya 5-NGS (an additional satellite identical to Thuraya 4-NGS), strengthening its coverage and capabilities across the Asia Pacific region.

Based on the state-of-the-art all-electric Airbus Eurostar Neo Platform, Thuraya 4-NGS will incorporate a large 12-metre L-band antenna and a payload with on-board processing providing advanced routing flexibility of up to 3200 channels with dynamic power allocation over a large number of spot beams. It is scheduled for operation in 2024.

Airbus has been selected by Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), the UAE’s leading global satellite operator, to build Thuraya 4-NGS, the next generation mobile telecommunications system that will drive the continued advancement of Thuraya’s L-band business. Thuraya 4-NGS will deliver higher capabilities and flexibility while increasing capacity and coverage across Europe, Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East, enabling next generation mobility solutions for all customer segments, including defense, government and enterprise.
