The Taste of the Eastern Forest

Wonderfruit Explores Our Shared Roots Through ‘Field Village’

Wonderfruit introduces Field Village, a living landscape shaped by the artists, collaborators and Wonderers who gather here each year. November ticket sales open 3–9 November 2026.

Wonderfruit, Thailand’s annual celebration of culture, art, music and nature, returns for its 11th edition from 3–7 December 2026 at The Fields at Siam Country Club, Chonburi, Thailand. This year’s theme, Field Village, invites Wonderers to experience The Fields as a living village shaped by Mind, Nature and Sound, the three guiding principles at the heart of Wonderfruit since its beginning. Bringing together artists, collaborators and Wonderers from Thailand and around the world, Field Village is a place where cultures intersect, creativity flourishes and unexpected encounters offer new perspectives. Each person contributes to a village that continues to grow and evolve.

As Wonderfruit enters a new decade, Field Village offers an opportunity to return to our roots and reflect on the values and experiences we share as people. Through music, art, food, ancestral wisdom and a renewed commitment to caring for nature, Wonderfruit brings these connections to life, creating space for people to learn from one another and grow together.

Wonderfruit’s November Sale runs from 3–9 November 2026, beginning at 4PM BKK time (GMT+7) on 3 November. This is the final public ticket sale for Wonderfruit 2026. After the sale ends, tickets will only be available at the door at higher prices:

The Field Village theme presents The Fields as a village where people gather to exchange ideas, knowledge and experiences. The village comes to life through nature, music, art, food and wellness activities, shaped by the people behind each experience and those who take part.

The Living Fields

Nature has always been an essential part of Wonderfruit, shaping how The Fields evolve. The forest is our teacher, doctor, kitchen, and friend, offering knowledge, nourishment, healing, and shelter. Since 2022, Wonderfruit has planted more than 100,000 trees, helping restore biodiversity and create a thriving landscape where nature, art, and community coexist.

Discover the four forests that nurture creativity at The Fields.

Ancestral Forest is home to wildlife and a place for people to gather, where art, sound and nature coexist. Grown using the Miyawaki method, the forest has winding paths that lead through native plants and art installations, offering opportunities to explore and experience nature in different ways. Yang Na Forest is a young woodland grown from the seeds of Wonderfruit’s Mother Tree. As the trees mature, their canopies may develop crown shyness, a natural phenomenon in which neighboring treetops leave space between one another, reminding us that growing together also means giving each other room to thrive. At Medicinal Plant Village, six wooden huts introduce Thai medicinal herbs and time-honored healing practices passed down through generations. Meanwhile, Suan Somrom draws on an ancient orchard-garden tradition from Southern Thailand, where fruit trees, timber trees, leafy plants and other vegetation grow together in the same space, creating a diverse landscape that flourishes naturally.

Food

A village needs food to sustain life. Beyond nourishment, food carries stories of a community’s history, identity, and culture from past to present. This year, Wonderfruit explores culinary wisdom through recipes and cooking traditions, turning the table into a place for gathering and sharing stories. At Wonder Kitchen, chefs reveal the people, ingredients and origins behind each dish. This year’s guiding concept, The Grounded Kitchen, draws inspiration from field research and documentation developed in collaboration with Samrub Samrub Thai, exploring the culinary traditions and local ingredients of Chonburi and Rayong. Chefs from Pimali Foundation, Samuay and Sons, 80/20, and SOMSAK bring the concept to life, each interpreting it through their own approach to food.

Chef Prin Polsuk, Mint–Thanyaporn Jarukittikun and their Samrub Samrub Thai team share eastern Thailand’s seasonal ingredients and traditional cooking methods through dining experiences and workshops. Their multi-course chef’s table experience, Samrub Burapha: Ecosystem of the East — The Dinner Experience, tells the story of the region’s natural landscape and food culture through each dish. Two workshops offer a closer look at these traditions. In Flavours of Eastern Nature: Krabok & Karang, local experts teach Wonderers to make karang, a traditional Thai side dish made from preserved krabok seeds, which are mixed with steamed rice for their rich, nutty aroma. The Taste of the Eastern Forest invites Wonderers to smell, taste and identify the native herbs that have long shaped eastern Thailand’s cooking.

Wellness

A village shares wisdom and ways of caring for mind and body. Wonderfruit brings together practitioners from Thailand and around the world to share different approaches to well-being. Through specially curated Journeys, Wonderers can take part in paid guided experiences designed to explore The Fields in greater depth, alongside free activities at Wonderness. Surrounded by nature, Wonderness offers a peaceful space to rest, reflect and reconnect. This year’s theme, Rooted in the Inner Axis, explores inner balance and a deeper understanding of the self, with an opening ceremony marking the start of the program.

Among the workshops is Re-calling the Khwan of All Things by Conscious Movement Collective, which combines movement and shared ritual to explore the traditional Thai belief in khwan, the life essence believed to reside within living things. The experience invites participants to reconnect with themselves and find a sense of grounding. If I Were a Tree: Exploring the Self and Nature Through Movement, guided by choreographer Song Ravinan, offers another way to connect with nature through an imaginative journey from seed to tree, using movement to explore the relationship between the self and the natural world. The workshop Ancient Resonance: Cacao & Animal Archetype Sound Expressions by Kokomary & Temp. in Sept invites Wonderers to ground themselves in the present through deep listening, bringing together handcrafted ceramic instruments inspired by ancient forms, contemporary ambient soundscapes and breathwork. Meanwhile, Superflow: Fluid Yoga to Honor the Oceans Inside and Out by Eoin Finn of Blissology explores our connection with water through yoga and ocean-inspired movement.

Awareness is another dimension of wisdom explored through Dhyana, a series of workshops, performances and teachings that invite Wonderers to become more present through different contemplative practices. The program includes Bardo Teachings by Tibetan Buddhist lineage holder Tulku Ngawang Tenzin, who travels from India to share teachings on the intermediate states between life, death and rebirth, encouraging a deeper awareness of how we live.

Music

A village has its own sounds. The Fields brings together musicians and artists from different backgrounds to experiment with sound and share new ways of listening. This year’s music program connects sounds from Thailand and around the world, including Salin, a Thai drummer who blends Afrobeat and global rhythms with Thai musical influences. Having made her mark on Canada’s jazz scene, she has performed on KEXP and at international music festivals. Rasmee Isan Soul brings her distinctive, soulful vocals, blending the Isan language with molam, blues and R&B. Thai breakdancing icon Tu Direk, known for his extraordinary flexibility and pioneering contributions to Thai rap, also makes his first appearance at The Fields.

Artists across the lineup draw different genres into their sound. Gospel vocals meet funk and disco in the music of Arp Frique & the Perpetual Singers. Tokio Myers fuses classical piano with electronica, while SILENT POETS, a music project from Japan, brings a distinctive sound rooted in dub and downtempo. Jack Wyllie, a saxophonist, flautist and composer draws on ambient, fourth-world, electronica and modern classical influences. Nubya Garcia, a saxophonist, composer and bandleader whose music moves fluidly between jazz, classical, dub, R&B and beyond. Carl Stone a pioneer of live computer music warping familiar sounds into layered, unpredictable compositions that move between experimental music and pop. Ichiko Aoba is a singer-songwriter creating music that is intimate yet boundless, expressed through classical guitar or synthesizer. Sheherazaad, a songwriter who conjures her distinctive style of folk-noir from the collision of Hindi-Urdu poetry and the haunting grit of goth-pop.

Molam World brings Isaan culture to the heart of The Fields. Here, electrified sounds, bold flavors and the spirit of Isaan mingles with root music from around the world. Again this year, Maft Sai, founder of Zudrangma Records, Studio Lam and Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, returns as the music curator for this stage. At Molam World, you can meet Lorjhu’ from Madura Island who brings traditional Madurese music and vocals into conversation with contemporary sounds. From Surabaya, three-piece band Thee Marloes blend soul, jazz and pop with a distinctly Indonesian musical character, while South Korea’s Sansae blur the lines between cultures and genres, weaving the driving bass and drums of rock with the warm psychedelia and hypnotic rhythms of the sitar.

Collaboration also shapes the lineup, with Wonderfruit teaming up with Maho Rasop, Bangkok’s international independent music festival, to co-curate the program at Ziggurat, exchanging creative perspectives while supporting the local and regional music scene. Meet Flure, H 3 F, YONLAPA, Supergoods and many more. Wonderfruit continues to support independent artists based in Thailand through Intermission. Since its introduction in 2015, the program has given emerging artists opportunities to develop their sound and perform at The Fields. This year’s selected artists are  ZeitGeistS, DCNXTR, Mut Matthew, APICHIT, Nuwave Trio และ murrph.

Music festivals BEATFOREST, Organik, and Rainbow Disco Club (RDC), also bring their sounds to The Fields, with all three exploring atmospheric ambient and the slower rhythms of downtempo beyond their usual musical approaches. Other collaborators include KANGKAO, a collective of Thai artists pushing the boundaries of art and music, and Bangkok Community Radio, a platform supporting local artists, musicians and DJs. Each brings its own musical selection to The Fields.

Electronic music takes many forms across The Fields, with Thai artists Chalo, Payu, NOTEP, alongside international artists Loyboy, Marcel Dettmann, JakoJako and many more, each bringing their own distinct sound.

Film

Beyond concerts and DJ sets, this year introduces Cinema & Sound, a program exploring the relationship between film and music through screenings and live sonic interpretations.

The first program, From Sound to Screen: The World of Nick Dwyer, follows the New Zealand filmmaker’s exploration of sound, people and culture through three documentaries screened across three nights and three stages. The selection includes The Insect Musicians, A Century in Sound: Episode 4 “Nightingale” and a special preview of Geinoh Yamashirogumi, co-produced by Wonderfruit.

The second program, developed by Wonderfruit in collaboration with ROVR, an anti-algorithm music discovery platform, and Dhutanga Cinema by LERT DEPT, a mobile cinema project, reimagines films through live sound. Each film is screened with its original audio muted while artists create new soundtracks in real time using vinyl records, CDs and cassette tapes, offering their own interpretations of the stories on screen. Independent cinema Sala Saneha also joins the program to co-curate a selection of short films from Thailand and across the region.

Art

A village is filled with art and craft. Art at Wonderfruit draws inspiration from nature, with site-specific installations designed to exist in harmony with their surroundings and invite Wonderers to engage with the works. Thai artist Arin Rungjang presents The Circle Upside Down, a monumental structure of wood, metal, stone, rope and bamboo, shaped by the movement of sunlight and wind. Dusadee Huntrakul presents For Going Out or Gardening, transforming everyday objects into sculptures made from patinated brass. The instalaltion invites us to discover something unexpected in the ordinary. Thai contemporary artist Pinaree Sanpitak, whose work is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, presents Gathering Tables Wonderfruit, an installation that explores the relationship between food, art and human connection. Through the familiar form of the table, the work creates a space for coming together, inviting Wonderers to reflect on the simple rituals of gathering, sharing and exchange.

Filipino artists Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan present How Long After the Sunset Before It Gets Dark, a sculptural installation that serves as both a sundial and a place to sit, gather and watch the sunset. Their work explores time as a continuous cycle with no fixed beginning or end, connecting the present with memories of the past. Meanwhile, BamBoom! by Bamboo Studio Thammasat, a carousel-inspired bamboo installation, invites Wonderers to come together through play.

Art also questions inherited systems and opens up new perspectives at Unconditional Space. Guided by the theme, Tropicality: New Beginnings draws on the stories and histories of the tropics to open up new conversations and possibilities. Miss Alien Trophy Wive$$$ Pageant by SMZW uses humor and satire to explore the social scripts queer people inherit, ideals of flawless femininity, and soft power disguised as submission. Meanwhile, A Storm That Took Everything by Montika Kham-on combines film and live performance in an open-air cinema setting, inviting audiences to consider death, grief, and loss as pathways to freedom and rebirth.

Lastly, a village is made by its people. Artists, musicians, chefs and practitioners bring their knowledge, creativity and passions to The Fields. But these experiences take on new meaning when people come together to listen, learn, taste, dance and share time with one another.

Each year, Wonderers become part of the stories that unfold, bringing their own perspectives and experiences to the village. The Fields is more than a place where programs and activities come together. It is a living village that continues to grow through the connections people make and the experiences they share.

Medical AI Competition in China Highlights Potential for ASEAN Health Care Cooperation

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Healthcare Security Administration

A national medical imaging artificial intelligence competition was held on Oct. 22-23 in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, bringing together researchers, medical professionals and technology companies to test AI tools designed to help doctors detect diseases and explore health care cooperation between China and Southeast Asian nations.

The 2026 National Healthcare Security Medical Imaging AI Recognition Competition drew 1,332 registered teams, including participants from member states of ASEAN. A total of 66 team entries advanced to the finals.

Co-hosted by China's National Healthcare Security Administration and the Guangxi regional government, and organized by the Healthcare Security Administration of Guangxi, the competition featured eight categories, including lung cancer detection using CT scans, brain tumor analysis using MRI and breast cancer screening using mammography.

Advances in medical imaging have produced increasingly detailed scans and larger volumes of data for radiologists to examine. A chest CT scan that once generated about 100 images can now produce thousands, making the timely detection of small abnormalities a growing challenge.

One participating team, SenseLung from Shanghai, has developed AI tools to identify suspicious lung nodules, analyze their characteristics and generate structured reports to assist radiologists. Its work also extends to disease screening and patient follow-up.

But detecting abnormalities is only part of the challenge. Hospitals use different imaging equipment and scanning protocols, meaning an AI model that performs well at a major medical center may not deliver the same results at a smaller hospital.

The competition therefore assessed not only detection accuracy but also how well algorithms handled variations in medical images from different sources.

Such challenges extend beyond China. ASEAN countries have diverse health care systems, levels of digital development and access to medical resources. For hospitals considering AI-assisted diagnosis, compatibility with existing equipment and clinical workflows can be as important as performance in controlled tests.

The competition also highlighted the importance of collaboration between clinicians and technology developers.

In the mammography category, a team involving Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Hospital and a local technology company developed an AI model to identify breast masses and tiny calcium deposits that may indicate disease.

Radiologists helped engineers understand clinical needs and refine the model, demonstrating how medical expertise and AI development can work together - an approach that could support joint research across borders.

Guangxi, which borders Vietnam, has long served as a gateway for China's exchanges with ASEAN. Initiatives including the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Center and the Fangchenggang International Medical Opening-up Pilot Zone are creating additional platforms for cooperation in AI and health care.

The competition was open to international participants and is part of efforts to connect AI research with clinical testing and commercial applications.

Under plans announced by Guangxi authorities, the region aims to work with ASEAN partners on cross-border clinical validation and demonstration projects to explore how medical imaging AI could be adapted to different health care settings.

Such cooperation involves more than transferring software. Differences in imaging equipment, medical procedures, patient data, privacy rules and regulatory requirements can affect whether AI systems can be safely introduced into clinical practice.

Access to high-quality medical imaging data is another key factor. China is developing medical imaging cloud infrastructure to facilitate the sharing and retrieval of imaging records among health care institutions. With appropriate safeguards, such infrastructure could also support AI development and evaluation.

Zhang Huimao, director of radiology at the First Hospital of Jilin University and president-elect of the Chinese Society of Radiology, said medical imaging data infrastructure could support not only clinical care but also AI model development, testing and evaluation.

Still, strong competition results do not automatically mean an AI tool is ready for hospital use. Models need clinical validation across different institutions, equipment and patient populations, along with regulatory approval where required.

Guangxi has introduced a three-year action plan to support the commercialization and application of technologies emerging from the competition, covering product validation, industry development, clinical testing and cooperation with ASEAN partners.

For China and ASEAN, the potential benefits extend beyond technological exchanges. In areas with limited access to specialist radiologists, reliable AI-assisted tools could help doctors identify suspicious findings more quickly and improve diagnostic efficiency.

AI, however, is intended to support rather than replace physicians, who must consider patients' symptoms, medical histories and other test results when making clinical decisions.

The competition offered a glimpse of AI's potential in medical imaging. Turning promising algorithms into reliable tools for hospitals across borders will require further testing, adaptation and cooperation, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.
