Last night Georg Jensen, the Danish design house, opened its new London flagship boutique on Mayfair's Mount Street. The boutique marks another step in the brand's re-invigoration. Guests attending included Dame Zaha Hadid, DBE, Ilse Crawford and Tom Dixon who all enjoyed an evening of celebration in the new store.

Conceived by Danish interior architect David Thulstrup, the boutique offers a gallery-like environment for the complete Georg Jensen collection. Amongst the iconic Georg Jensen designs, a newly launched premium gold jewellery collection was showcased on the ground floor. Alongside this, watch collections have been infused with new limited run additions as well as rose and yellow gold editions.

Downstairs guests were reminded of Georg Jensen's impressive heritage dating back over 110 years. Vintage silverware and jewellery was displayed, alongside signature hollowware pieces, silver gifts, silver cutlery as well as the soon to launch silverware collaboration with designer Marc Newson CBE. Over these two floors guests experienced the distinctive Georg Jensen aesthetic, a style that has played an important role in creating what is referred to today as 'Danish Design', while earning the house a Danish Royal Warrant.

"The launch of this beautiful store marks a new chapter for Georg Jensen in London, a city that we've had a presence in since 1926. With a renewed sense of energy in all our collections, along with the location and interior will provide the ideal backdrop for the many stories that we look forward to telling through our innovative designs" commented David Chu, CEO and Creative Director.

The opening of the new flagship boutique follows closely on the heels of new boutiques in London's Royal Exchange, Westfield's luxury retail hub The Village, and concessions within Selfridges Wonder Room and Harrods silverware department- and all adds up to a doubled UK retail footprint of over 3,000 square feet. Internationally 2015 has seen boutique openings in Munich, Oslo, and the innovative concept store, Georg Jensen Hus in Beijing.

Final of the Hublot Design Prize - At the Heart of Tokyo Design Week

Whilst the 30th edition of Tokyo Design Week is setting the tone for the whole of the capital, Hublot has taken up residence in Kiba Park at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo (MOT). The Big Bang Tour has set up camp at the very heart of the museum. The Jury for the Hublot Design Prize has chosen its winners. A first edition that was marked by an ex-aequo award and a "jury's special award".

"When I think about my history, I think of all the people and encounters that have played a determining role. Those who made me who I am, who believed in me and who played a role in boosting my career. Sometimes talent just needs a helping hand from destiny to find success" Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot and Chairman of LVMH Watch Division.

There are moments in a career, or the history of a firm, that mark a turning point. For Hublot, this turning point was called Big Bang. A watch that has established itself as an iconic model in watch design and that triggered the striking success of the brand. This was the inspiration behind the launch of the Hublot Design Prize in April this year as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Big Bang model. Its primary aim is to support a young designer by boosting their career, by creating such a turning point.

"Design is as much an integral part of the identity of Hublot as the materials. Our identity that expresses a clear idea: NO INNOVATION - NO FUTURE. It is with great pride that Hublot is in Tokyo today to award our design prize and to highlight the talent of a young designer". Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.

Looking to the future, Hublot wishes to value the talent of the designers of tomorrow by helping to expose them to a wide public at an international level.

On 27 April 2015, 25 contenders were selected by a jury of 5 names from the world of contemporary design: Lapo Elkann, Ronan Bouroullec, Marva Griffin Wilshire and the Professor Dr. Peter Zec, under the chairmanship of Pierre Keller. On June 4th, in Milan, the 5 finalists for the first edition of the Hublot Design Prize were announced.

The first edition of the Hublot Design Prize sees an ex-aequo prize awarded for the work of the Swiss partnership BIG-GAME and the Norwegian Daniel Rybakken who both win a prize of CHF 50,000. A "jury's special award" of CHF 10,000 was presented to Brynjar Sigurdarson. Jean-Claude Biver and Pierre Keller were together to present the awards to the winners.

"In view of the excellence and the quality of the work presented, we have decided to award the title ex-aequo to the team spirit of BIG-GAME- a partnership that is set to become a major player on the world design stage-and Daniel Rybakken for his original and minimalist approach that turns a new leaf in contemporary lighting. The jury's special prize is awarded to an extraordinary candidate, Brynjar Sigurdarson, who has been able to make full use of his origins and the materials of his native Iceland." The Hublot Design Prize Jury

Alongside the awarding of the Hublot Design Prize, the MOT played host to the Big Bang Tour and an exhibition of the work of the five Hublot Design Prize finalists. The backdrop was created by Keiji Ashizawa, a Japanese designer whose artistic signature is "honest design"-an art that is both simple and refined, beautiful whilst remaining accessible.

The Hublot Design Prize is an international competition launched by Hublot in 2015 that is awarded in recognition of an author's designs. The contest is opened to the designers who are under 40 years old, it rewards their accomplished work without being linked to a particular field in design. To ensure the cultural diversity of the competition and to highlight the wealth of the creation at a global level, each member of the jury has to chose, among its 5 candidates, at least one non-European and one Asiatic designer.

It is designed to act as a springboard for the career of young designers by giving international visibility to the winner's existing work.

ThyssenKrupp Launches MAX: Maximizing Urban Efficiency with Leading Microsoft Azure IoT-enabled Technology

          - Cross reference: Picture is available at AP Images ( http://www.apimages.com ) and http://www.presseportal.de/nr/113002/ -

ThyssenKrupp Elevator launches MAX, a game-changing predictive and pre-emptive service solution that extends remote monitoring capabilities to dramatically increase current availability levels of existing and new elevators. Leveraging the power of Microsoft Azure Internet of Things (IoT) technology, MAX makes it possible for an elevator to "tell" service technicians its real needs, including real-time identification of repairs, component replacements, and proactive system maintenance.

          (Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20151023/279986 )

Today's twelve million elevators worldwide move one billion people each day, making the elevator the most used means of transport - and also the safest - but in one year of operation these elevators are unavailable due to service interventions in a cumulative amount of over 190 million hours; MAX is set to improve all these statistics, aiming to cut unavailability periods by half.

Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of ThyssenKrupp Elevator: "Our mission is to do something nobody else in our field has done before: To transform a century-old industry that has relied on established technology until now. Cities need innovations that respond to the challenges of the massive urbanization we are currently witnessing. We are very pleased to work with Microsoft to truly take ThyssenKrupp into the digital era and change the way the elevator industry offers maintenance services."

With MAX, data collected in real time from connected ThyssenKrupp elevators is sent to Microsoft's trusted Azure cloud platform, where an algorithm calculates the remaining lifetime of key systems in each elevator. Now, ThyssenKrupp's team of over 20,000 service technicians will be able to rely on MAX as their wingman, making it possible to be informed in advance when components will need to be repaired or replaced. In a MAX-connected building, people will wait less time, resulting in decreased stress and more quality time.

CGAP Announces Winner Of Photo Contest In 10th Year

CGAP today announced its 2015 Photo Contest winner as Sujan Sarkar of India. The winning photo, called "Paddy Cultivation," was chosen from more than 3,300 entries from 77 countries for its breathtaking composition and immersive quality. The photo showed workers in a paddy field in West Bengal, India capturing one of the key themes of the contest – smallholder farmers and their families. The panel of three judges said Sarkar's photo symbolized the family's livelihood, home, and how they support themselves.

A full gallery of the 27 winning photos can be viewed in an online photo essay [ https://cgap.exposure.co/2015-cgap-photo-contest-winners-and-finalists ].

There are 2 billion people around the world who lack access to formal financial services. Over the past decade, the annual CGAP Photo Contest has sought to document the struggles and successes of those who are often excluded from the financial system. Said Greta Bull, CEO of CGAP: "The Photo Contest enables us to show in a very visual way the resilience and challenges facing the working poor. It puts a face on financial inclusion and the work we do."

The 2015 CGAP Photo Contest invited submissions in four key areas that are instrumental to advancing financial inclusion: (1) Digital financial services and mobile banking; (2) Women's use of financial services; (3) Microfinance for small business enterprises; and (4) Smallholder farmers and their families.

The panel of judges comprised of Nicole Crowder, Photo Editor for The Washington Post's photography blog, In Sight; Corinne Dufka, Associate Director at Human Rights Watch and an award-winning photographer; and Leena Jayaswal, Director of Photography Program and Associate Professor at the American University.

Through a highly competitive process, the judges selected two other finalists, thematic and regional winners, and special mentions. Liming Cao of China's photo, "Fishing with the Net," won second place, for its beautiful framing, unique softness, and evocation of movement. The third place prize was awarded to Pranab Basak of India for the photo, "Hands for Freedom" which the judges agreed captured the essence of love – something that is "hard to photograph."

The People's Choice Award went to Vikash Singh of India, whose photo, "Farming Lady," earned more than 200 votes online.

The 2015 Grand Prize winner will receive a $2,000 gift certificate for photography equipment and a display of his winning photograph on the Times Square Jumbotron in New York City.
