Microchip Launches the Lowest Power, Cost-effective PIC32 Family with Core Independent Peripherals

          - New PIC32MM family is ideal for Internet of Things, consumer, industrial control and motor control applications

          [NASDAQ: MCHP] -- Microchip(R) Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, has announced the company's lowest power and most cost-effective family of 32-bit PIC32 microcontrollers (MCUs). The Microchip  PIC32MM family bridges the gap between the company's popular PIC24F XLP and PIC32MX families. The new family is the first PIC32 to feature core independent peripherals, designed to offload the CPU for lower power and lower system design cost. The PIC32MM devices are supported by the  Microchip MPLAB(R) Code Configurator (MCC) to help simplify and accelerate designs.

         

          Today's embedded applications targeting the Internet of Things (IoT), consumer, industrial control, and motor control require flexible MCUs that consume less power, are more cost effective and have smaller form factors. For applications demanding low power and longer battery life, the PIC32MM has sleep modes down to 500 nA. Applications with space constraints will benefit from the small 4x4 mm package options. The PIC32MM devices include core independent peripherals such as Configurable Logic Cells (CLC) and Multiple-output Capture Compare PWMs (MCCPs) which help enable sensorless BLDC motor control applications.

          To help accelerate evaluation and development, a new  PIC32MM processor plug-in module is available (MA320020), which plugs into the  Explorer 16 Development Board (DM240001). The entire family of PIC32MM devices is supported by the Microchip MPLAB ecosystem including MPLAB X IDE and XC32 compiler. The MPLAB Code Configurator, a plug-in to the MPLAB X, helps with easy peripheral set-up, device configuration and pin mapping.

Disruptive Technology, an Alternative to Increase Labor Productivity and Competitiveness

The Habibie Center (THC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia and the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation held a public dialog entitled "Seizing the Benefits of Disruptive Technology for Manufacturers in Increasing Labor Productivity" today at THC in Jakarta. This public dialog was part of the 12th WIEF series of events that will culminate at the Forum on 2 - 4 August 2016 in Jakarta.

          Speaking at the event, Senior Economic Researcher of Indonesian Institute of Sciences Dr. Zamroni Salim says, "Disruptive technology does not always oppose conventional operations with massive labor forces. Manufacturing operations such as big data and the Internet of Things that help analyze details of operations, real time data from suppliers' inventory to downstream customer demand."

          Disruptive technologies can in fact serve as an alternative for Indonesia and other ASEAN countries to widen profit margins and lower costs in manufacturing, and potentially create US$25 to US$45 billion in annual ASEAN economic impacts by 2030.

          The development of disruptive innovation and technology are still concentrated in countries with high commitment and pools of experts in research and development, such as China, Japan, India, and South Korea. Nevertheless, ASEAN countries have the opportunity to attract more cost-conscious global manufacturers and embed themselves deeper into the global supply-chain. One of the reasons is due to the increase of China GDP per capita and its shift from an export-driven economy to a consumption-driven model that have caused wages to rise in the country.

Creating New Asian Power, Global OConnect Opens A Flagship Exhibition Warehouse In Vietnam

          On June 30th, 2016, Global OConnect, headquartered in Hong Kong with a focus on promoting international trading and exchange, will open its exhibition warehouse in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This is the first of its kind in Vietnam and in the country's economic center where 1/3 of the country's GDP is generated. It is also a demonstrative flagship facility for Global OConnect. Telkomsel Selects Xura's Spam Shield for Advanced SMS Spam Detection and Filtering

          Advanced message filtering detects up to eight times more spam related SMS messages than before to better protect customers from spam and fraud
