Grand Canal

Perfect World Investment & Holding Group (Perfect World Group)

Grand Canal

Grand Canal

Population Council and Duchesnay Announce New International License Agreement for ANNOVERA(R)

NEW YORK AND BLAINVILLE, QC--1 Dec--PRNewswire/InfoQuest

Today the Population Council and Duchesnay announce an exclusive license agreement to make ANNOVERA(R) (segesterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol vaginal system), the first and only contraceptive fully under a woman's control to protect against unintended pregnancy for up to a year, available in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Asia and other territories. This agreement is another step toward bringing contraceptive choice, convenience and control to women around the world.

ANNOVERA is the first in a new class of contraceptives. It is a soft reusable flexible silicone ring that combines a novel progestin Nestorone(R) (segesterone acetate) with a widely used estrogen (ethinyl estradiol), that can be inserted and removed by a woman herself. ANNOVERA was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in August 2018 and is now available to women in the United States.

"A lack of longer-lasting, women-controlled contraceptives means too many women who want to avoid pregnancy either don't use, or stop using, contraception, leading to more unintended pregnancies and worse health outcomes," said Jim Sailer, vice president and executive director of the Center for Biomedical Research at the Population Council. "This agreement will now open up opportunities to bring ANNOVERA to women on four continents—it's another step forward in ensuring that women around the world have the contraceptive choices they deserve."

ANNOVERA was developed by the Population Council and supported by important public and private donors from around the world, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Contraceptive Clinical Trials Network of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Avis and Clifford Barrus Medical Foundation and the World Health Organization (WHO).

As part of the agreement, Duchesnay will explore opportunities to register ANNOVERA with local regulatory agencies in these regions and will invest in the Population Council's research activities to develop new innovative contraceptive products.

"We are very excited to be a part of the Population Council's efforts to bring important new contraceptive options to women around the world. As a company committed to improving women's health, we believe that women deserve access to a wide variety of innovative contraceptive options such as ANNOVERA giving them full control of their lives," said Eric Gervais, executive vice president at Duchesnay.

Taiwan Top Choice in Asia for Post-Pandemic Travel

TAIPEI--30 Nov--PRNewswire/InfoQuest

- Japanese Corporation Crowned 2020 Asia Super Team: Reach for the Stars Champion

The Asia Super Team competition, organized by "Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade", "Ministry of Economic Affairs" and executed by "Taiwan External Trade Development Council", promotes incentive travel in Taiwan by revealing Taiwan's numerous attractions through a variety of different themes and contests since 2013. At the 2020 championship press conference on November 26, results of the event's Asia Incentive Tourism Destination in the Post-Pandemic Era Survey were announced, in addition to the champion team -- JTB Global Marketing & Travel from Japan, winning an incentive travel package valued at US$50,000.

Asia Incentive Tourism Destination in the Post-Pandemic Era Survey Results

The impact of COVID-19's grounding of cross-border travel in 2020 has caused many companies across the world to cancel their incentive travel plans. MEET TAIWAN surveyed Asian corporate business travelers to gauge their interest for incentive travel in light of the global pandemic. The results of 3,939 valid questionnaire responses showed that once the dust settles after the epidemic, 90% of corporate employees in eight Asian countries look forward to company incentive travel plans, indicating that after the end of the lockdown business traveler demand for incentive travel is stronger than ever before.

Of particular note, more than 80% of Asian business travelers will prioritize the integrity of local disease prevention measures when they participate in future incentive travel, and public security will be a second priority; this shows that the pandemic has prompted companies to focus on safety factors when choosing their next incentive travel destination. Statistically, Taiwan is rated as the top destination for incentive travel among Asian companies and countries due to its rich tourism resources and spectacular disease prevention success. Up to 99% of business travelers expressed confidence in Taiwan's disease prevention and safety, which will be a boon to the country's tourism after the epidemic.

With regard to incentive travel itineraries, most survey respondents expressed their preferences for cuisine and local cultural experiences, followed by sights of historical significance. The survey answers will assist Taiwan with future preparation and marketing after the epidemic, in addition to serving as reference for other interested international destination providers. The Asia Super Team competition continues to achieve breakthroughs and innovations. It has attracted multiple target markets through diverse, creative, and integrated marketing. The continued implementation of creative marketing contributes to making Taiwan a prime destination for exhibitions and incentive travel in Asia.

Japanese Team Wins Reach for the Stars Championship

This year saw Asia Super Team held as an exclusively online competition for the first time. Elite corporations from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam participated in the event, completing the online Reach for the Stars challenge in a week-long contest. The onslaught of COVID-19 was overcome by developing a brand-new format of innovative competition that overturned past approaches, using novel technological elements and digital tools to promote and generate buzz for incentive travel in Taiwan. The championship finale incorporated online contests and voting. JTB Global Marketing & Travel won the 2020 championship and incentive travel package valued at US$50,000. It was a climactic ending and soon their company employees will enjoy incentive travel in Taiwan after the epidemic.

GCLSI Supplies 64MW Solar Modules to Two Large PV Plants in Japan

SUZHOU, CHINA--30 Nov--PRNewswire/InfoQuest

GCL System Integration ("GCLSI" or "the Company"), a world-leading, one-stop and integrated energy system provider, has announced its cooperation with a leading Japanese solar energy project construction company to build two utility-scale solar power stations in Japan. Both solar power stations are currently under construction and they are expected to connect to the grid at the beginning of 2022. The two projects won the support of MUFG Bank, Mizuho Bank, SMBC Group and other local banks.

The first project is a 37 MW solar power plant located in Kochi, which covers around 280,000 hectares and is designed to provide 45000 MWh annually. Once it's been completed, the station will become the second largest solar plant in Japan powered by the innovative GCLSI cast-mono module.

The second project is a 27 MW power plant in the Kanto region, which covers approximately 240,000 hectares. Outlining the details of the project, Riki Li, Country Manager for GCL in Japan, explained: "Getting planning permission was the biggest challenge we've faced in this project". After three years of development, the project was put in motion. The power plant is expected to generate 29000 MWh of power annually.

Japan has put great efforts into the solar energy development and has shifted its policies towards renewable energy after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant tragedy in 2011. According to a report from the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies (ISEP), the installed PV capacity had increased by 5.7 GW and reached nearly 54 GW at the end of 2019. This year the market is expected to add over 7 GW of new capacity in the region.

GCL started its silicon business in Japan in 2010 and enlarged its business scope to solar project development in 2014 and module sales in 2017. GCL Japan currently owns 58 MW of solar projects in the region. As a fully integrated clean energy system provider with robust in-house production capable of manufacturing high-quality PV products with high performance/price ratio, GCL is dedicated to providing the best value-per-watt products to our customers. The GCL Japan team is always seeking opportunities to develop solar projects with our partners and contribute to Japan's carbon-neutral target by 2050.
