The 17th China Changchun International Agriculture and Food Fair (CCIAFF Expo) opened in northeast China's Changchun city on Aug. 17. The 10-day event, which aims to showcase China's rural revitalization strategy, includes an exhibition and a forum inviting experts and scholars in the field to offer advice and suggestions.
The CCIAFF Expo is co-held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, People's Government of Jilin Province as well as the city government of Changchun. It has been successfully held for 16 times and become one of the most influential agricultural fairs in China, as well as an important platform for Jilin's foreign cooperation and exchanges in the agricultural field. More than 200 foreign companies from 21 countries, and over 2,000 domestic agricultural companies participated in this year's expo.
Jilin is at the geographic center of Northeast Asia, home to the world-renowned "golden corn belt" and "golden rice belt". Its yearly gross grain output has maintained 70 billion kg for five consecutive years. Using only 4 percent of China's arable land, the province produced 10 percent of the country's total commodity grain. Jilin's per capita grain availability, commodity rate, transfer volume, and corn export volume have topped the country for many consecutive years. The output of its agricultural production industry exceeded 560 billion yuan (82 billion U.S. dollars), becoming one of the province's three pillar industries, the other two being automobile and petrochemical engineering.
Focusing on modern agriculture, the expo provides various platforms for products trade and exhibition, industrial demonstration, education, forums and online interaction. Through the exhibition of advanced agricultural scientific and technological achievements, the expo seeks to pioneer a green development, promote agricultural cooperation, assist China's high-quality agricultural development, and offer intellectual support for the rejuvenation of Northeast China.
The Jilin rural revitalization summit, and first China ecological agriculture renewable resources recycling development and modern agricultural machinery industry forum are held during the expo. New technology, facilities and patterns such as non-heating greenhouse, soil-less culture, and stereoscopic agriculture are also presented.
The CCIAFF Expo has aimed for internationalization and professionalization during its preparations. The organizing committee paid great efforts to attract world-class modern agricultural technology, famous agricultural products and companies to the exhibition, build first-class platform for their exchanges and cooperation and offer an amiable market environment, to make the expo an agricultural meeting of domestic popularity and world influence.
