Partnerships aim to inspire a new generation of leaders to advance the management accounting profession and CMA certification
IMA(R) (Institute of Management Accountants), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on the advancement of the management accounting profession, announced today the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with four universities in Taiwan.
The MoUs will aid IMA in shaping the next generation of management accounting leaders in Taiwan and encourage them to earn their U.S. CMA(R) (Certified Management Accountant) certification. The participating universities (listed alphabetically) are:
- Fu Jen Catholic University, a community of teachers and students aiming for a whole-person education which focuses its accounting education on management practice and ethics.
- "National Chengchi University", who looks to nurture its students' talents for Taiwan and society whose Department of Accounting has a reputation for its cultural and humanistic heritage, professional leadership, academic excellence, and outstanding faculty.
- Tamkang University, a university in pursuit of ongoing innovation with its management philosophy whose Department of Accounting aims to train students to be accounting specialists both in theory and practice.
- Tunghai University, a liberal institution full of scholarly elites and abundant resources whose College of Management aims to educate successful business and accounting managers.
"Taiwan's accounting students are preparing to be leaders at the organizations they will work for and we are excited to give them the tools to do so," said Josh Heniro, Ph.D., Senior Director, IMA Southeast Asia & Australasia. "These four universities are some of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan and we are looking forward to working together with all of them."
As part of the partnerships, IMA will encourage and support activities by the universities to advance management accounting professionals in Taiwan and the universities will encourage their students to pursue a U.S. CMA.
Professionals that earn a U.S. CMA pass a rigorous two-part exam that covers the mastery of 12 core practice areas. The U.S. CMAs bring financial planning, control, and decision support to their workplaces, and help organizations close the skills gap and gain a competitive edge in the market. To date, more than 70,000 U.S. CMAs have been awarded.
