IMA Appointed Associate Member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants

          - Umbrella organization of national accountancy organizations in Southeast Asia contributes to the global development of the profession

          IMA(R) (Institute of Management Accountants) one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on the advancement of the management accounting profession, was admitted as an associate member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA). IMA's application was approved at the 129th AFA Council Meeting in Singapore on November 25.

          AFA consists of representatives from national accountancy organizations in Southeast Asia including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The purpose of the organization is to serve as a comprehensive organization of its member states and accelerate the economic growth, social progress, and cultural development in the region through cooperation of each national organization.

          "IMA can contribute positively to our aims and purpose for the members in the management accounting organizations throughout the region," said Kon Yin Tong, President of AFA. "We welcome IMA to AFA and are excited to work together and see how IMA's membership and good work will lead us forward as a federation."

          As a new associate member, IMA will contribute to AFA's aspiration as the umbrella body of the professional accountancy organizations in Southeast Asia, and work to develop the accounting profession in the region while advancing its global development as well.
