- First Time for Garbage Collector to Win iF DESIGN AWARD -
Press Master, a press-type garbage collector made by Morita Econos Corporation, an Osaka-based consolidated subsidiary of Morita Holdings Corporation, received the "iF DESIGN AWARD" in the "Product" section of the world-renowned German design award. This was the first time for a garbage-collecting vehicle to win the iF DESIGN AWARD.
The iF DESIGN AWARD, given every year by iF International Forum Design (based in Hannover, Germany), features industrial products from around the globe and is one of the most prestigious design awards. In 2017, there were a total of 5,575 entries from 59 countries around the world. After careful examinations were carried out by 58 jurors consisting of national experts, high marks were given to the press-type garbage collector Press Master.
Press Master, released in December 2016, is a press-type garbage collector that aims to improve the efficiency of refuse collection and reduce its workload while enhancing safety. In order to reduce the burden placed on workers, workability was improved by designing the height of the inlet to be about 700 mm or less. In addition, the vehicle's basic performance has been improved by expanding its holding capacity to 4.3 cubic meters (5% more than that of our company's previous product), greatly improving the design, and making it a product that combines practicality with a beautiful and powerful design. Further, Morita Econos' unique highly mounted rear panel integrates lighting equipment and indicators, making it easier to see the vehicle from the rear and thus improving safety.
