A hotel that stimulates the five senses - Opening on July 26
Hotel Management Japan Co., Ltd. (head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; representative director: Shunzo Azuma; hereinafter referred to as "HMJ"), a hotel management company, has announced that today it will be officially opening its new hotel, Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza.
Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza is conceptualized as an "art gallery hotel." In collaboration with galleries based in the art hotspot of Ginza, the hotel adopts wall art in all its internal spaces featuring imagery expressing the four seasons of Japan by up-and-coming artists, thereby inherently creating a space that stimulates the creativity of guests. In addition, local galleries are close by for enjoyment, and the hotel assists guests in enjoying and exploring the Ginza area, prepares a stay that seduces all five senses, and aims to be a hotel that can act as a central hotspot for artist-related information.
With this concept, we hope that guests can enjoy staying in what feels like an art gallery, steeped in the creative world, while also enjoying all that Ginza has to offer.

Disseminating a world of art: Three ways to experience this "art gallery hotel"
Experience 1: Collaboration with art galleries in Ginza: Immerse yourself in a world of art at this "art gallery hotel"
Ginza is a literal treasure trove of galleries, all neatly situated very close to each other. From galleries exhibiting classical paintings from ancient times to those showing contemporary art, the galleries in Ginza have evolved in symbiotic harmony as a source of the new and the old. Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza, as a hotel unique to Ginza, creates an art space that is inspired by its concept of an "art gallery hotel." For interiors and interior design aspects, the hotel collaborates with up-and-coming artists via galleries based in Ginza. The white-themed lobby and guest rooms are accented by "silver Ginza tones" (the "Gin" in the word "Ginza" refers to "silver") in wall art depicting images of Japan's four seasons. Through this hotel, guests can enjoy a space surrounded by the creative and the fantastic. Also, as a gallery space, the lobby exhibits a number of selected works in collaboration with Ginza galleries. Currently, the works of artists belonging to nada art gallery, based in Ginza, are on display. Please come and enjoy the latest from the art world, such as the work of up-and-coming artists in Ginza, along with works that are themed according to each season.

Wall art designer: Maya Ogata
After graduating from university, and while working for a graphic design company, Ogata has exhibited works at numerous solo exhibitions and group exhibitions as a painter. In addition, she has expanded her area of activity and also creates murals for guest houses and retail locations, along with indoor/outdoor event spaces, does wall art, and performs at live events nationwide in Japan.
Experience 2: Touring an urban art hotspot and experiencing "Ginza Art"
The Ginza area is home to nearly 200 art galleries that cover a multitude of genres: Japanese painting, Western art, contemporary art, and antiques, etc., stretching geographically from Ginza Station to Yurakucho and Higashi Ginza. Many of these galleries are free of charge to enter, and they are all popular as spots where one can enjoy art at each stop, without spending money, as all these galleries are located a few minutes on foot from each other. In addition, Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza has collaborated with galleries in Ginza to create an original local gallery walking guide map. In tandem with information on the local galleries, the map also introduces information that allows readers to deepen their understanding of the works on display. Visitors can also learn about shops nearby with English-speaking staff, along with other local information such as the locations of bars and pubs. Staying at Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza allows for not only an enhanced appreciation of art, but also shopping, dining, and all that Ginza has to offer!
Experience 3: Enjoying a stay that focuses on the enjoyment of all five senses: Enhancing your sensibilities
Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza does its utmost to prepare special ways for guests to freely and creatively enjoy their stay.
- Waking up the body from deep within
The breakfast buffet features five types of soup, all original chef-designed cuisine and matching with the season at hand, incorporating casual nutrition that will warmly wake up the body. Guests can also take breakfast to their rooms, allowing them to enjoy their morning in a private way.
- Toward a space that enhances your sensibilities
Bluetooth speakers have been set up in all rooms, allowing our guests to spend their time freely and creatively listening to one's favorite music in a space surrounded by art.
- Sake: Japan's drinking culture
A self-serve sake server has been introduced at the restaurant so as to make it easy for guests to enjoy a major component of Japanese food culture: Sake, an alcoholic beverage. Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza features a selection from Kanemasu Brewery in Niigata Prefecture, which is one of Japan's main rice growing regions. Kanemasu's history spans almost 200 years. The hotel offers two of their popular sake brands: "Blue Crest" and "Red Crest."
"Blue Crest" is made from a rice variety known as "gohyaku-mangoku." This rice is grown in Shibata City, which is where Kanemasu is located. This sake's flavor is clear and dry. "Red Crest" is made using hashira-shochu (distilled spirits made from rice). This traditional method, dating back to the 18th century, is used to make this sake rich and smooth. Both of these brands have been popular, as they pair well with any kind of meal.
Guests of age that are staying at the hotel receive one free cup per person. (Charges of 500 yen per cup apply from the second cup.)
With sake at hand and music at ear… visually, emotionally, and with sound so perfect that it can almost be reached out to and touched, the rooms at Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Ginza aim to provide a way to freely spend time in an atmosphere surrounded by art.
