- Grand Opening Scheduled for Dec. 18 -
ISETAN (THAILAND) COMPANY LIMITED has remodeled the fifth floor into a food floor and began on November 26, 2015, to offer food products imported from Japan. The grand opening of the floor, named "WASHOKU GALLERY," is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18.
The Thai retail market has undergone drastic changes since ISETAN (THAILAND) opened in 1992, and numerous Thai customers have said they want to see the same things at the store as at ISETAN stores in Japan. In response to such requests, ISETAN (THAILAND) is remodeling its store.
ISETAN in Japan has adopted an "Environment, Merchandise and Scene" strategy in which its display is user-friendly and experts are ready to explain how to use goods customers would like to buy. As part of this strategy, ISETAN has prepared a wide variety of products with which customers who visit ISETAN stores in Japan are particularly impressed.
Overview of remodeling:
New food floor: WASHOKU GALLERY
Concept: "this is Japan." (*)
At WASHOKU GALLERY, ISETAN offers goods and services so that customers can enjoy Japanese culinary culture. ISETAN will also minimize price differences between products in Japan and those in Thailand as much as possible so that as many customers as possible can feel "this is Japan."
("this is Japan." in terms of products)
Products under the "this is Japan." concept are brands produced by Japanese people and Japanese brands introduced to Thailand for the first time, exclusively available at ISETAN.
There are also nine Japanese-Western food brands, four Japanese bakery brands, 10 Western bakery brands and a Japanese Food Court with seven Japanese food brands.
("this is Japan." in terms of sales and services)
ISETAN has established a system together with Japanese food companies under which Japanese food experts will be invited to show their artisanship to customers. Specifically, tea masters will visit the store when newly harvested tea leaves are put on sale, and sake-brewing masters from rice wine breweries will be invited from all over Japan. Furthermore, sashimi experts will slice freshly imported fish from Japan as customers look on.
ISETAN (THAILAND) President Takaki Akune says: "The newly remodeled floor, WASHOKU GALLERY, is a unique one that only a Japanese department store can offer as it puts the 'this is Japan.' concept into practice. I'm confident that at WASHOKU GALLERY, Thai customers will feel a sense of satisfaction they have never experienced."
(*) "this is Japan." is a concept that Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings Ltd. recognizes as part of its corporate strategy. The whole group uses this concept to present the beauty of Japan to the world, from products to sales and services.
