The 2nd China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo will begin on June 8 in Ningbo, China. Organized by CEEC Organization Committee Office, the three-day event will feature investment promotion meetings, trade fairs, forums and cultural activities, strengthening economic and cultural ties among China and Central & Eastern European (CEE) countries.
The highlight of the event this year will be a meeting on investment and cooperation. Investment promotion organizations from CEE countries will gather in Ningbo to give a detailed introduction of their countries' business environments, investment policies and major investment projects. During the meeting, Chinese investment promotion organizations and enterprises can seek business opportunities with their counterparts from Central and Eastern Europe.
The trade fairs will exhibit featured products from CEE countries and showcase joint high-tech projects between them and China. The high-tech section will display key technology results on sectors including high-speed trains, new energy vehicles, communications and electricity generation.
"China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo offers an important platform for trade and economic cooperation among participant countries," said Danhua Yu, director of CEEC organizing committee office. "There will also be cultural and educational activities to help strengthen mutual understanding among attendees, including conferences on tourism and education cooperation, and microfilm competition and sports camp," he added.
Held alongside CEEC Investment and Trade Expo will be the 18th Zhejiang Investment and Trade Meeting, which promotes innovation and economic development in Zhejiang Province. Among the speakers at the meeting will be the 2006 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences winner Edmund Phelps, economist Zhiwu Chen and Consul-General of the British Consulate General in Shanghai John Edwards.
As one of China's key international port cities, Ningbo is a crucial part of the country's Maritime Silk Road initiative. The city government has stepped up efforts in further opening up the city's major ports and establishing trade ties with other countries and regions.
Ningbo is also an important destination along the shipping route connecting Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, and the city's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has 236 international links to shipping routes to more than 600 ports in over 100 countries.
Enterprise leaders from 267 companies across all 16 CEE countries have confirmed they will attend the expo, in addition to official government representatives.
