- Belt and Road Initiative brings new opportunities to construction machinery industry
The 122nd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), the largest trade fair in China held biannually in Guangzhou, will host the phase one exhibition from October 15 to 19, highlighting 1,700 exhibitors in the construction machinery sector. The booming industry has enjoyed new opportunities presented by China's Belt and Road Initiative (B&R), the country's development strategy to boost economic development along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
B&R Opportunities for Machinery Business in Guangdong
Since the B&R was launched in 2013, Chinese construction machinery manufacturers have grown rapidly, a significant percentage of products have been exported to participating countries, bringing a new spring to the Canton Fair.
"Guangdong is strategically important in B&R with the largest economic aggregate among all 28 Chinese provinces, and will continue strengthen ties with B&R countries," said Shen Haixiong, director general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangdong Committee at the 2017 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road.
Lovol Heavy Industry, a Canton Fair exhibitor, is a forerunner of the B&R. The company's products are sold in 120 countries and regions currently, more than 50 percent of which are exported to B&R countries. The company is active in South Asia and has signed multiple project agreements with countries including Pakistan.
Lovol noted that the initiative has provided opportunities to work with local governments and agencies to launch new projects.
