As the latest release of the GSMA's RCS specification, RCS 6.0 builds on the rich feature set available within the RCS 5.x specifications. Included in RCS 6.0 is rcsVVM developed by Xura, which further strengthens the value proposition, adding significant value to Communication Service Providers (CSPs) embracing RCS.
Xura's RCS solution enables CSPs to optimize networks, modernize service portfolios and reduce total cost of ownership, while delivering a richer user experience. The RCS solution focuses on evolving existing legacy services (voice, SMS, MMS and voicemail); services that offer 100% reach on any device and any network, empowering CSPs to become an integral part of the digital lifestyles of their subscribers from day one, so adding more value. Xura is a recognized pioneer and leader in VAS innovation and deployment. Xura has gained vast experience over the years with its highly acclaimed delivery engines, including SMSC, MMSC, voicemail and a full suite of complementary services which easily integrate with Xura's full multi-VAS (value added services) solution. Xura is the ideal partner for evolution to RCS and the digital world.
Xura's new rcsVVM service allows CSPs to leverage the RCS Common Message Store as a single repository for both RCS messaging and voicemail messages. rcsVVM enables a consistent multi-device experience: a user can receive, listen to and view voicemail messages using any of its RCS (VVM-enabled) devices, as well as through legacy VVM phones and via the dial-in telephony user interface.
"We are very pleased that the GSMA has recognized the value of the rcsVVM feature and decided to include it in the RCS 6.0 specification. Visual Voicemail has been very popular with consumers, and adding it to RCS will help it differentiate from other Over-The-Top services, while creating additional value for users," said Jim Saunders, EVP Digital Communications of Xura. "We continue to be an active participant in the GSMA's RCS standards, and hope to continue to contribute and add value to RCS in the future."
Xura is exhibiting at Mobile World Congress 2016 on Stand 8.1A41 in Hall 8.1 - the App Planet - and providing demonstrations of its RCS-based products throughout the show.
