Wireless engineering firm Koonsys ' new software iNOP (intelligent Network Optimization) is a unique telecom transmission network optimization solution to maximize the cost savings while enhancing the network capacity. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) work under double-pressure: acquisition of customers with lower monthly spending and continuous investment in the adaptation of new technologies to fulfil customers' needs. Discovering how MNOs can save on their network's OPEX while smartly spending CAPEX to significantly increase the capacity of the network becomes MNOs' Holy Grail.

The so called transmission network, which connects the base stations with the switching centres, is generally invisible for the customers. This invisible part of mobile networks really influences the competition of MNOs. The cost to build and operate the transmission network and the capacity significantly affect the price, speed and overall the perceived quality of the mobile internet service.
The latest market research of Koonsys had surprising results in terms of transmission networks.
iNOP that uses complex mathematical optimization algorithms highlighted that while the network operators earlier focused primarily on RAN (Radio Access Network) areas, there are significant savings also in the telecom transmission networks: 9.8% of the transmission links can be terminated practically instantly, in addition almost every fourth connection (26.4%) should be revised, modified.
The analysis software discovered avg. 11.8 % saving potential of telecom transmission network OPEX while identified as much as double capacity increase potential. According to the operators' financial leaders participating in the research (82%), this means a huge reduction of operational costs while utilizing the hidden potential for capacity growth helps to reduce CAPEX spending, too. Especially in the light of the fact that experts of the mobile market expect that in a few years time the transmission technology will number 50% of all network expenditures (CAPEX and OPEX).
"iNOP helps to manage MNOs' real problems who work under double pressure: manage network's capacity requirements and reduce costs. In cooperation with the network operators' engineers a double-digit saving can be achieved"-said Krisztian Novak the strategic BDO of Koonsys.
