Chung Yuan Christian University leads delegation to survey Thailand market

The visit is in line with Taiwan's New Southbound Policy to establish wide-ranging and diverse strategic partnerships with the countries of South and Southeast Asia

With a focus on the ASEAN market, the Industry Accelerator & Incubation Center at Chung Yuan Christian University (IAIC) hosted the Bangkok Business Delegation event from October 15 to October 19, 2019, in a move to help startup firms expand into international markets. A delegation of seven Taiwanese startups visited Thailand's capital, where they established partnerships with upstream and downstream players in the agricultural and biotechnology sectors as well as cross-border partnerships on the Internet of Things platform. They worked together to resolve current challenges and explore new ways of development.

The event concluded successfully, as it had presented Taiwanese startups with opportunities to meet CDIP (Thailand), a provider of testing services for health and beauty products, at Thailand Science Park, find local agents for products manufactured by Taiwanese startups through the Thai-Taiwan Business Association and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, introduce Taiwanese-made products to Thai buyers through the e-commerce platform PChome (Thailand) and facilitate cooperation on software and hardware integration through the Association of Thai Software Industry (ATSI).

The Taiwanese and Thai Startup Seminar was held at True Digital Park on October 17, at which representatives from Bangkok-based VC fund 500 TukTuks as well as four other local companies, QueQ, SHOP JJ, DRX Veterinary System and GET!, were invited to engage in discussions on a variety of topics. IAIC also signed a cooperation memorandum with True Digital Park, building a bridge between Taiwanese and Thai startups while creating international accelerator and incubation resources.

IAIC director Yi-Ning Chen explained that Chung Yuan Christian University has a world-class Industry 4.0 intelligent manufacturing demonstration facility, and signed a cooperation memorandum with Thailand-based BDI in March 2019. The university is set to become a talent incubation base for intelligent manufacturing in Taiwan. Chung Yuan Christian University welcomes all industry, government, academic and research organizations to visit and engage with the university in an exchange of ideas.
